Preparation of the submission of a CLIMA SIP proposal for the implementation of Iceland’s first National Adaptation Plan and Action Plan

Introduction

The objective of the project is to prepare a LIFE, Climate Action, Strategic Integrated Project (CLIMA SIP) proposal for the implementation of Iceland‘s first National Adaptation Plan and Action Plan for Iceland (NAP-AP or ICENAP) which is in full compliance with the call topic in its correspondence to a National Adaptation Action Plan.

Project Aims

The project aims to bring together key actors during the planning phase of ICENAP to participate in the creation of a CLIMA SIP proposal for supplementary funding for the first implementation phase of ICENAP from 2025-2029.

Work Packages

Three work packages have been developed for the project:

1. WP1: Management and coordination of project
2. WP2: Identification and involvement of adaptation leaders for implementation
3. WP3: Preparation of stage 1 submission (SIP concept note)
4. WP4: Preparation of stage 2 submission (Full SIP proposal)

Consortium Composition

The consortium consists of four main entities that all have the capacity to contribute important aspects to the project and two crucial associated partners to ensure broad engagement, mainstreaming, and ownership of climate change adaptation in Iceland.

Collaboration Goals

All partners will work together to develop a full CLIMA-SIP proposal to ensure a robust implementation of Iceland’s first national adaptation action plan (2025-2029) under its first National Adaptation Plan (2025-2039).
