Preparation of ENV SIP

Introduction

LIFE technical assistance project Preparation of ENV SIP (abbreviation PrepWaterSIP) aims at the preparation and submission of eligible and good quality Concept Note and Full Proposal of strategic integrated project for LIFE sub-programme Circular Economy and Quality of Life Call 2022 (priority Water).

Project Objectives

The project will ensure consistency of SIP project with the requirements determined by the LIFE programme. PrepWaterSIP will contribute to the general objective of the LIFE programme and of the environmental policy of the European Union:

• Protect, restore and improve the quality of the aquatic environment.
• Tackle the degradation of fresh water and marine ecosystems.

Strategic Framework

The main national strategic document for the achievement of this objective is the Water Sector Action Plan, which implements all river basin management plans of Lithuania pursuant to Annex VII to the Water Framework Directive and the Lithuanian Marine Strategy pursuant to the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.

Collaboration and Implementation

The project will bring together experts from various organizations, including:

1. Ministry of Environment
2. Executive agencies
3. Klaipeda University
4. Centre for Environmental Policy

These experts will:

• Outline key objectives and gaps for the new SIP project.
• Develop its implementation actions, tasks, and work packages.
• Engage relevant stakeholders.
• Mobilise complementary funding for the Water Sector Action Plan.
• Draft the text of SIP Concept Note and Full Proposal.
