Projectdetails

Introduction

The objective of this ACE LIFE SIP technical assistance (TA) project is to produce a full proposal for an EU LIFE SIP project, called ACE LIFE, to be submitted in March 2023. The concept note for the ACE LIFE project was submitted in September 2022. This proposal relates to the call LIFE-2022-STRAT-CLIMA-SIP-two-stage - Strategic Integrated Projects - Climate Action.

Project Goals

ACE LIFE aims at the implementation of the Medium-term Climate Change Policy Plan (MTCCPP). MTCCPP was adopted by the government in June 2022. ACE LIFE directly supports Finland to meet the national climate targets to achieve the EU’s emission reduction target for Finland in the effort sharing sector by 2030 and Finland’s 2035 carbon neutrality target set in the Climate Change Act.

Specific Aims

The ACE LIFE SIP TA project aims at:

  1. Designing the practical implementation, budgets, and monitoring of the activities of the ACE LIFE.
  2. Preparing the full project proposal of the ACE LIFE.
  3. Strengthening and expanding the ACE LIFE consortium with new partners.
  4. Completing negotiations with co-financiers.
  5. Specifying activities for engaging relevant stakeholders outside of the consortium.
  6. Elaborating the complementary funding plan needed for successful implementation of the MTCCPP.

Implementation

The ACE LIFE SIP TA project is implemented by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) and The Ministry of the Environment (MoE) of the Finnish government. The ACE LIFE SIP TA project is implemented through four work packages during 6 months from January to June 2023.

Roles and Contributions

SYKE is the coordinator, beneficiary, and the main project implementer. MoE essentially contributes to the implementation of the TA project as an authority in charge of the Medium-term Climate Change Policy Plan. MoE’s Letter of Support is submitted with this proposal.

Stakeholder Engagement

The ACE LIFE consortium and other key stakeholders needed in the successful implementation of the ACE LIFE project’s emission reduction objectives will be actively engaged during the technical assistance project.
