Projectdetails

Introduction

The aim of the project is to create a pilot program to develop good practices for building electric heavy-duty vehicles (eHDV) charging hubs, which will contribute to the development of the zero-emission heavy transport sector. This is crucial in Europe's pursuit of climate neutrality. The LIFeHDV project responds to the sub-program "Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation." Under this sub-program, one of the 2022 areas of interest is: "Actions for the transition to zero-emission mobility (road transport)." The project responds directly to this topic and supports it with its activities.

Project Overview

The project will be a unique case study, building know-how in the application of best practices in the eHDV market, implementation of charging infrastructure, its operation, and electrification of fleets and road networks.

Substantive Tasks

1. Location Analysis for Pilot eHDV Charging Hubs

The results are:

  • Development of a map of places with the greatest potential for the foundation of electric truck charging stations.

2. Technical Specification of Hubs and Surroundings

The results are:

  • Technical solutions necessary to create a pilot program to increase the availability of eHDV charging hubs.

3. Tests of Alternative Methods of Charging Electric Trucks

The results are:

  • Determining the real usefulness of V2G standards.
  • Tests for inductive charging on trucks.
  • Verification of the possibility of using energy storage at eHDV charging stations.

4. Construction and Opening of Pilot eHDV Charging Hubs

The results are:

  • Launch of a pilot, generally accessible eHDV charging station.
  • Creation of a mobile tool to operate the charging system as part of the pilot eHDV charging hubs.

5. Testing and Validation of the Pilot

The results are:

  • Launch of a pilot, generally accessible eHDV charging station.
