Introduction
This proposal relates to the LIFE-2021-STRAT-ENV-SIP-two-stage Strategic Integrated Projects - Environment (SIP) call and the topic Circular economy and quality of life. The main objective of this MUOVI LIFE SIP TA project is to produce a full proposal for an EU LIFE SIP project, called PlastLIFE, to be submitted in April 2022. The PlastLIFE SIP aims at promoting the implementation of the Plastics Roadmap for Finland. The concept note for the PlastLIFE SIP project will be submitted in October 2021.
Objectives
More specifically, the MUOVI LIFE SIP TA project aims at:
- Specifying activities for engaging the stakeholders outside of the PlastLIFE SIP consortium needed for the full implementation of the Plastics Roadmap for Finland.
- Designing the practical implementation, objectives, and monitoring of the coordination and demonstration activities of the PlastLIFE project.
- Elaborating the complementary funding plan needed for successful implementation of the Plastics Roadmap for Finland.
Background
The Plastics Roadmap for Finland was prepared in 2018 by a broad-based working group appointed by the Ministry of the Environment and adopted by the Government in December 2019. The PlastLIFE SIP project will promote the objectives of the Plastics Roadmap to:
- Reduce the harm caused by plastics.
- Reduce consumption.
- Increase the efficiency of plastics recycling.
- Find substitutes for traditional plastics.
Implementation
The project is implemented through six work packages during 6 months from January to June 2022. The coordinator, the Finnish Environment Institute SYKE, is in charge of all work packages except for WP5, where the responsible organization is the Ministry of the Environment (MoE). MoE is in charge of the Plastics Roadmap for Finland.
Collaboration
The partners cooperate in carrying out the work packages. Stakeholders, other than the PlastLIFE consortium, needed in the implementation of the Plastics Roadmap will be engaged during the implementation of this TA project.
