European Environmental Bureau
The EEB aims to enhance the European Green Deal's implementation and development through a comprehensive strategy focusing on sustainability, climate policy, and organizational growth for a one-planet economy.
Projectdetails
Introduction
In July 2024, von der Leyen presented her Political Guidelines to the European Parliament. She underlined her commitment to the European Green Deal (EGD) - its objectives, implementation, further development, and rollout through a Clean Industrial Deal and a range of other priorities.
EEB's Commitment
The EEB made the EGD its central priority over the last five years and remains deeply committed to contributing to the EGD's implementation, further development, and roll-out. The EEB's engagement supported many of the EGD successes across environmental and climate policy files.
The European Pact for the Future
In 2023-24, the EEB also developed The European Pact for the Future: a green and social deal for a one-planet economy, as a practical vision for the 2024-29 legislative cycle.
Future Goals
In 2025, the EEB will seek an effective implementation and rollout of the EGD and the uptake of the EEB's recommendations for a green and social deal for a one-planet economy that supports:
- The Clean Industrial Deal
- The wider set of environment and climate promises in the Political Guidelines
- Strategic Agenda
- 8EAP and international MEA commitments
- The Strategic Dialogue on Agriculture conclusions
Priorities for EEB
Priorities for the EEB will include:
- Sustainable food systems
- Climate adaptation
- Clean Industrial Deal
- REACH revision
- Pollution prevention
- Circular economy
- Renewable energy roll-out
- Critical raw materials
- 2040 targets across policy areas
- The EU budget and MFF
- Measures on the rule of law and environmental rights and implementation across policy areas
Organizational Development
The EEB will also carry out a mid-term assessment and update our 2020-2030 Long Term Strategy to target cost-effective engagement of staff and resources to realize our mission and vision. We plan to further strengthen our organizational base and systems, support staff wellbeing, training, and development.
