Protecting and enhancing our natural capital while advocating sustainability governance on a national, regional (CEE) and EU level
CEEweb's Work Plan aims to enhance environmental advocacy and policy implementation in Central and Eastern Europe through collaboration, capacity-building, and promoting sustainable practices over three years.
Projectdetails
Introduction
CEEweb's Work Plan, proposed under the LIFE NGO Operating Grant scheme for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, aims to build a framework for CEEweb, in collaboration with its 32 Central and Eastern European member organisations. The goal is to continue its participation in the EU policy dialogue, as well as to support the implementation and enforcement of the Union’s environmental and climate objectives.
Objectives and Work Packages
We envision achieving our goals along three main objectives, which also constitute our three Work Packages (WPs), in addition to our activities for organisational development. Our proposed activities in the next 3 years will focus on:
-
Protecting our natural environment
Advocating better policies for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration, and calling for an integrated approach to development with improved protected area and water management (WP2). -
Advocating sustainable practices
Promoting sustainable farming practices, nature-based solutions, and policies to protect and restore resilient, biodiverse rural and urban ecosystems for a healthy climate, carbon-rich soils, and sustainable food production (WP3). -
Promoting governance structures
Advocating governance structures, financial mechanisms, and participatory policy-making methods that ensure prosperity, fairness, and well-being within planetary boundaries (WP4).
Organisational Development
With regard to developing our own organisation and membership, we aim to reinforce CEEweb’s role as an influential regional environmental NGO. This will be achieved through:
- Internal capacity-building
- Increased visibility
- A renewed lobbying and fundraising strategy
- Strengthening and diversifying our membership (WP1)
Unique Themes
In the next 3 years, CEEweb will continue working on unique themes that are rarely covered by other NGOs, including:
- Operationalising resilience in agro-environmental policies and recovery plans
- Protecting and restoring soil biodiversity for healthy ecosystems and sustainable food production
- Sustainability-proofing EU and national budgets and development plans
