Bankwatch
Bankwatch's 2024 program aims to transform public finance and policies for a zero-carbon, resource-efficient economy in the EU through public participation and expert-led decision-making.
Projectdetails
Introduction
CEE Bankwatch Network is made up of 16 grassroots member organisations in 14 central and eastern European countries with more than 25 years of experience in transforming public finance and environmental and climate policies to work for people across Europe and beyond.
Work Programme Overview
Bankwatch’s 2024 work programme is designed as the last part of a three-year action and will thus contribute to the same objectives as the three-year work programme submitted. It will foster systemic transformation towards zero-carbon, resource-efficient, and biodiversity-rich economies in the EU by shifting the use of public finance in line with the objectives and targets of the European Green Deal.
Work Method
Bankwatch’s work method involves promoting public participation, transparency, and expert-based and citizen-led decision-making on projects and plans that are financed by EU financial instruments.
Activities
Our activities involve:
- Case-based research
- Expert analyses
- Awareness-raising
- Capacity-building at the national, regional, and local levels in the EU and beyond
We provide platforms and channels for citizen activists and local NGOs to reach decision makers with their concerns and proposals.
Work Packages
Our programme includes four Work Packages:
- Organisational Development
- Climate Change Mitigation
- Nature and Biodiversity
- Clean Energy Transition
Additional Objectives
The Circular Economy and Quality of Life objectives of the LIFE programme will also be served by our work programmes through the three thematic work packages.
