Carbon2Business
The Carbon2Business project aims to implement advanced carbon capture technology at Holcim's Lägerdorf cement plant to reduce emissions by 128% and supply captured CO2 as raw material to local industries.
Projectdetails
Introduction
The Carbon2Business project will deploy an innovative carbon capture technology at Holcim Germany’s cement plant in Lägerdorf, Germany.
Objectives
The project aims to provide the captured CO2 as raw material to different industries in the region.
Implementation
Holcim will build a new kiln line, using an innovative 2nd generation oxyfuel process and a downstream Compression and Purification Unit (CPU).
Impact
By implementing this highly innovative technology, Carbon2Business will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of its cement production by 128% compared to the reference scenario calculated over the first ten years of operation.
