Introduction
The project is submitted as part of the call: Technical Assistance for preparation of SNAPs/SIPs (LIFE-2021-TA-PP) and aims at preparing a full proposal for implementation of the LIFE AFTER COAL Strategic Integrated Project (SIP): Implementing the Strategy for Climate Neutrality in Eastern Wielkopolska 2040.
Background
The Strategy for Climate Neutrality in Eastern Wielkopolska 2040 was adopted on March 11, 2021, by the Board of the Wielkopolska Region, ensuring the involvement of interested parties, especially the industry, local government units, and community representation.
Previous Proposal
The Wielkopolska Region has submitted a full proposal entitled "LIFE-IP LIFE AFTER COAL PL: Implementation of the Strategy for Climate Neutrality in Eastern Wielkopolska 2040 (proposal No. LIFE20IPC/PL/000021)" in the LIFE2020 call. According to the letter from CINEA of June 22, 2021, the proposal was put on the preliminary reserve list, and it is unlikely that it will be financed under the LIFE 2020 call.
Future Plans
Therefore, the Wielkopolska Region is going to re-apply for additional funds for the implementation of the RSCN under the Strategic Nature and Integrated Projects (SNAP/SIP) call (LIFE-2021-STRAT-two-stage) – SAP CLIMA.
Participation
It should be emphasized that the same entities that participated together with the Wielkopolska Region in the LIFE-IP 2020 call for proposals are expected to take part in the project; however, minor changes in this respect are possible (e.g., a few communes from the Region might also join the project).
Project Development
As part of the project, the concept note will be updated, while the full proposal will be adjusted to current requirements of the call and comments received from CINEA after the LIFE2020 proposal is considered and verified in terms of the European Climate Law and the "The Fit for 55" Communication.
