Implementation of Circular economy model for reusing of WEEE
The project aims to establish a circular business model for HVACR equipment by creating a repair center and e-marketplace for recovered spare parts, promoting sustainability and waste reduction.
Projectdetails
MAIN OBJECTIVE
The demonstration of a new circular business model for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) equipment, by developing a repair centre and e-marketplace for spare parts obtained from end-of-life refrigerators and air conditioners, extending the lifetime of such equipment.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Increased number of the available recovered parts on the market by combining technical aspects of testing and modern IT systems.
- Creating disassembly facilities for WEEE with testing and implementing a prototype for diagnosis of spare parts dedicated for HVACR equipment.
- Establishing a spare parts distribution network by creating an e-commerce platform that will allow the purchase of parts throughout Europe. Promotion of the platform will be carried out in Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia.
- Expansion of the equipment waste collection network in Poland.
- Increased awareness of the reuse, second life, and circular economy in the refrigerant and air-conditioning sectors.
RESULTS EXPECTED
- Approximately 4,500 spare parts to be recovered and tested by the end of the project.
- At least 1,000 spare parts for the refrigeration and air conditioning market will be sold in the last year of the project.
- The parts will extend the life of 1,000 pieces of HVACR equipment and will reduce 70 tonnes of such waste.
- Five prototypes for diagnosis of spare parts (compressors, engines, fans, pressure elements, valves) will be developed.
- Increasing the level of waste equipment recovery by 260 tonnes in the last year of the project.
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from equipment by 5 tonnes of CO2/year.
- Advanced and automated reuse model, ready for replication in other places and sectors.
