Introduction

Eurosite is a network of natural site managers. Eurosite’s mission is to maintain and enhance natural spaces across Europe and to develop a strong and effective community of European land conservation practitioners by helping them to network and exchange experience on the protection, restoration, and stewardship of ecosystems and natural spaces.

This project supports the implementation of Eurosite’s objectives as laid out in its Strategy 2021-2025.

Work Package 1: Organisational Development – RESILIENCE

This work package ensures that the Secretariat and Board have the necessary capacity, skillset, resources, incentives, flexibility, and long-term perspectives to deliver Eurosite’s mission.

Key objectives include:

  • Strengthening Eurosite’s financial capacity by diversifying income streams.
  • Improving communication with Eurosite members.
  • Sharpening Eurosite’s profile for stakeholders and the public.

Work Package 2: Networking for Europe’s Nature – REACH

This work package deepens thematic cooperation and knowledge exchange among natural site managers through new Twinning initiatives on emerging issues such as:

  1. Nature-based climate solutions
  2. Health
  3. Integrated planning
  4. Disaster control

Additionally, it expands Eurosite’s membership and geographic coverage and establishes new strategic partnerships.

Work Package 3: Thematic Cooperation for Natura 2000 – RELEVANCE

This work package supports the implementation of the EU Nature Directives and strengthens the Natura 2000 Biogeographical Process by fostering the exchange of good practices in Eurosite’s Working Groups on:

  • Management Planning
  • Economics & Ecosystem Services
  • Wetlands and Climate Change
  • Remote Sensing
  • Agriculture, Biodiversity & Climate
  • Peatland Restoration

Work Package 4: Eurosite and the EU Institutions – RECOGNITION

This work package increases Eurosite’s presence at the European level, raises public awareness for the importance of protecting and enhancing Europe’s ecosystems and their services, and encourages cooperation between site managers and farmers by promoting nature-friendly products from Natura 2000.
