2023 Operating Grant

Introduction

This Operating Grant application sets out ClientEarth Germany’s action plan for 2023, with a focus on Organisational Development and two main programmatic areas: Energy Transition and Agriculture.

Legal Framework for Climate Action

We believe the law is the most effective lever for climate action. ClientEarth Germany delivers strategic interventions – from the negotiation of new legislation to the implementation of existing laws in court proceedings – to bring about systemic change in Germany, Europe, and beyond.

Goals and Focus Areas

We will work to ensure better implementation and enforcement of EU environmental law, in particular in the fields of:

1. Clean energy transition
2. Climate change
3. Agriculture

Additionally, we will act as an important conduit between civil society groups and the EU.

Current Position and Future Plans

ClientEarth Germany is already filling a gap in the national and EU legal landscape and is becoming an influential voice in the use of law to protect the environment, with a unique breadth and depth of experience.

Organisational Development

We are now at a critical juncture in our organisational development and will seek to strengthen and consolidate our role and presence in the environmental law field, in order to maximise impact in our programmatic areas and drive systems change.
