Introduction

FarmInsect responds to the global need for alternative protein sources for animal feed in a sustainable and efficient way for farmers.

Innovative Approach

FarmInsect is the first insect company to put existing farmers at the center of the solution. Utilizing BSF (Black Soldier Fly) larvae in a fully closed-loop system, farmers feed the larvae on organic sidestreams. Just as nature’s perfect upcycling machines, larvae convert organic residues to create high-quality protein to feed animals.

Economic Benefits

With FarmInsect, a livestock farmer can produce up to 1,000 tons per year of BSF larvae at €800 versus €1,350 per ton of fishmeal, helping to replace dependency on global markets.

Health Benefits

Key to farmers is the healthy value of larvae feed for animals. The BSF larvae contain natural immune-boosting peptides that improve the immune system of farm animals. Insects as feed reduce abnormal behavior such as:

  • Feather picking in chickens
  • Tail biting in pigs

Byproducts

Furthermore, added value organic fertilizer is produced as a byproduct.
