Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP)
The project aims to influence EU environmental policy from 2025 to 2027 through evidence-based research and multi-stakeholder engagement, promoting sustainability across agriculture, land use, and energy sectors.
Projectdetails
Introduction
The period from July 2025 to June 2027 will see a number of political milestones in the EU environmental policy landscape in place by 2030, thus playing a key role in the achievement of many of the EU domestic and international commitments.
About IEEP
The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP aisbl) is a non-profit sustainability think tank. Since its establishment in 1976, IEEP has been working with EU stakeholders, international bodies, academia, civil society, and industry to produce evidence-based research and advance impact-driven sustainability policy across the EU.
Our wealth of expertise and experience accumulated over decades of research in the thematic priorities of the LIFE programme, combined with the strength of our Think Sustainable Europe (TSE) membership network and Think2030 platform, allow us to understand, anticipate, and accompany the major trends in EU policy developments.
Thematic Work Packages
IEEP's work under the LIFE program is structured into thematic work packages (WPs) designed to maximize impact:
-
WP3-AGRICULTURE AND FOOD
Aims to support sustainable farming practices and to foster sustainable food systems through the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). -
WP4-LAND USE AND CLIMATE
Addresses climate issues from a land use perspective, supporting ambitious emission reduction targets in the agriculture, forestry, and land use sectors, and emphasizing the role of enhanced carbon sinks. -
WP5-ENERGY AND RESOURCE USE
Focuses on the social impact and the material footprint associated with the clean energy transition. -
WP6-GLOBAL IMPACT
Deals with the global impacts of EU policies.
Horizontal Activities
In addition, our horizontal WP2-HORIZONTAL INSTRUMENTS focuses on a series of horizontal activities, such as the Green Deal Barometer, and other sectoral platforms for multi-stakeholder engagement, including the European Sustainability Agriculture Dialogue and the Green Trade Network.
