Projectdetails

Introduction

HORIS will further develop an existing platform called Green Menu that was piloted for Portugal by DGG and FCT NOVA during an EIT Climate KIC funded project. We want it to become the digital go-to one-stop shop of integrated home renovation services to support homeowners' decisions all along the overall building renovation customer journey, particularly focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy. The OSS will be developed by adding new features about home typologies for three Southern European countries: Portugal, Spain, and Italy.

Objectives

HORIS's main objective is leveraging citizens' trust in consumer organizations' capability to select home renovation professionals with clear accountability and quality assurance. This aims to support consumers via a simplified and digitalized process designed around user experience.

Challenges

HORIS aims at breaking down long-standing barriers by empowering homeowners throughout the home renovation process, enabling them to make necessary decisions on investments. The main barriers to be tackled include:

  1. Lack of trust in actual energy savings.
  2. Choice of the professional/SME.
  3. Cumbersome financing process.

Solutions Offered

HORIS will offer financial, legal, and technical solutions to provide an overview of the economic incentives for all actors involved in the home renovation value chain. Additionally, it will design the business model for each specific target household. The project will seek a high degree of replicability and include a clear action plan to communicate experiences and results.

Engagement Strategy

HORIS will act on different fronts to foster better use of EU and national public funds and mobilize a greater share of private funds. This will involve engaging multiple small and medium-sized stakeholders, including local and regional public authorities and non-profit organizations.

Benefits

HORIS, through building renovation services, can generate multiple social, environmental, and economic benefits, making it a unique opportunity for climate neutrality.
