Wastewater treatment plants are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and are responsible for 1-2% of emissions worldwide.

VARIO Emission Control System

VARIO “emission control” is the first system that enables online monitoring of greenhouse gases (nitrous oxide and methane) and chemical pollutants in wastewater treatment plants.

Technology Overview

The VARIO solution measures relevant substances automatically and adjusts the wastewater plant's aeration system via AI models. The technology combines:

  • Sensorics (mass spectrometry)
  • Data-driven models (AI)

This allows for the adjustment of wastewater treatment process parameters.

Multiplexing Capabilities

VARIO operates in multiple aeration basins with one analyzer through its multiplexing capabilities, which helps save costs for operators.
